Gun Violence cost AZ 1.9 Billion per year. What will you do to address this?

The majority of Americans overwhelmingly support common sense gun legislation to prevent gun violence. Specific legislation measures I propose are expanding background checks to close the private sale loophole, prohibit convicted domestic violence offenders from possessing firearms including closing the boyfriend loophole, ensuring data is promptly and accurately entered in NICS databases, safe storage legislation and the banning of bump stocks, silencers and high capacity magazines.

What have you done to prevent Gun Violence?

I became a member of Moms Demand Action in 2013 and have participated in Wear Orange Day, marches and events ever since. I have participated in boycotts of companies including Starbucks, Target and Kroger until their open carry laws were changed. I became a Sandy Hook Promise Keeper in 2015 and brought their Start with Hello program to a local K-8. I have contributed financially to Moms Demand Action/Everytown, Sandy Hook Promise, Giffords and the Brady Campaign. I marched in the Phoenix March for Our Lives event this year. And finally, I decided to run for office when I saw the way the student organizers for March for Our Lives were dismissed by our current Legislatures.

Gun Violence cost AZ 1.9 Billion per year. What will you do to address this?

We need to fully fund mental health research. Close the "boyfriend loophole". Increase the waiting period to buy any and all firearms. Hold gun owners accountable for their guns.

What have you done to prevent Gun Violence?

I finally got myself involved politically. Eighteen months ago my next door neighbor accidentally killed himself with his grandfathers unsecured revolver in front of my home. Eight months ago four people were murdered blocks away from my home, the sister of one of my childhood friend and coworker was among the victims. Eight weeks ago a guy my brother went to school with was involved in a double murder-suicide three doors down from my home. All of these deaths could have been prevented with common sense gun reform. I got involved politically to be a part of that reform.
