Gun Violence cost AZ 1.9 Billion per year. What will you do to address this?

We have a mental health crisis that is much larger and severe than most people realize. Most of the guns that are categorized as "assault weapons" are based purely on aesthetics, where there are more powerful guns still available. We're wasting our time trying to outlaw specific guns (except for obvious devices like bump stock and high capacity magazines). We must address mental health issues which have led to a dramatic increase in suicides and gun violence.

What have you done to prevent Gun Violence?

I feel that helping to remove the stigma surrounding mental illness is key to reducing gun violence.

Gun Violence cost AZ 1.9 Billion per year. What will you do to address this?

I will advocate for legislation that will promote the safe handling and secure storage of all registered weapons. I intend to support and vote for legislation that is in alignment with my answers to the previous questions on this survey.

What have you done to prevent Gun Violence?

I am the wife of a retired law enforcement officer. In my capacity as a community college educator I have created and scheduled gun safety training. As a candidate I am sharing my views with voters regarding gun safety and violence prevention. I currently lead an organization called Youth Empowerment Partners that is dedicated to promoting healthy choices and the prevention of abuse and self harm among our young people. In 1996 I established a domestic violence shelter program and I speak out about the lethal connection of DV and guns.
